Critique not complain
Okay, before I talk about the race at Sheboygan Falls I want to set the record straight on one matter. I never complained about the race course. I didn't even race last year. However, when asked to give a critique of the course I did. That may make me a "wuss" but I can live with that because I liked the new course. And that's all I want to say on the matter because I don't want to start a blog war . . . although I know that it is very fashionable these days. (You know I'm just joking with you here, right?! Well, mostly as I am a wuss and I did say a thing or two about the course).
Anyway, about the race. I loved the stairs . . . maybe not the 8th time up them but in an overall kick your butt and make you work hard way. It's a rare place that has such a feature so it was nice to have something different and unique. If only I didn't work on the 1st floor of a 14 story building I might have been better prepared. I'm going to have to see if I can get an office up higher so I can do stairs every day and get ready for next year. Or at last find some reason that I need to go to the 14th floor.
I don't have anything too exciting to report from the day. I rode hard and had fun and finished in my usual last place spot. However, for some reason I was very giddy after the race and couldn't stop talking about how much I loved cross all the way home. We got home a bit late and had to rush, rush, rush to get to the Chainsmoker/Mad FORCs party. Even with all the rushing everyone was almost done with dinner by the time we got there (thanks to all the post-football game traffic). I tried to tell them that it was much too soon for an end of season party but all those mountain bikers thing it's the off season . . . well, except Jerry, Garett, Dave, Samantha and I. The bike season isn't over until December 10th!
