School Daze
So what's been going on with life you ask?
The big news is that I've decided to go back to school . . . well, actually I'll just be taking classes without working towards a degree of any sort. However, I have decided to do some photo courses and re-explore my interest in photography. Back in my undergrad days one of my degrees was in Journaslim and I was especially interested in Photojournalism. However, I never pursued it and instead went to grad school and went in a different direction. Now I'm looking for a new direction and decided to at least explore photography a bit more seriously.
For years I haven't taken many photos until I started promoting cyclocross and photos was how MadCross started. I realize that I still really like photography. However, my original photo training was pretty limited since it was part of the Journalism program so I'm going to take some classes to revisit my old skills and explore some new areas like studio, portraits, etc. It was kind of cool getting out my old portfolio from my undergrad days and realizing that there was some good work in it.
I'm not sure how taking classes is going to fit in with a fulltime job (and still looking for a new one), training, racing, putting on events, being on the steering committee of two teams, and other life stuff. I think I can fit it all in though . . . we'll see.
I'm also trying to plan a summer vacation. I want to go somewhere for two weeks. I can't decide where though as there are so many great places I want to visit in the world. Rigth now I've been considering British Columbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Finland, Poland, Holland, Australia and a few other locales. Quite a list I realize. I also realize that finding a two week block in the summer with no bike team or important work commitments will be a challenge.
Here are a few photos from other great trips I've taken in recent years to inspire your own travel plans: 1 - Switzerland near the Italian border, 2 - Dolomites in Italy, 3- Washington
