Welcome to Michigan
I'm in Michigan right now at a huge Hyatt hotel and the conference I'm attending starts soon. I left Madison at 5:30am . . . booking an early flight like that always sounds fine until you suddenly realize just how early you'll have to get up to get to the airport on time. That was not fun!!
My legs didn't like the cramped quarters on the airplane either. The flight from Madison to Chicago was on a tiny little plane. My flight from Chicago to Detroit was a huge oversold flight. Luckily I got an aisle seat but when I boarded someone was in my seat and the look on my face must have been scary as he apologized profusely for sitting in the wrong seat. No way was I giving up my aisle! I'm going to have to spend some time icing my calf tonight as the calf muscle I pulled early this season has a huge painful knot in it right now (not that the left one feels so wonderful either). That was some serious hill running this weekend . . . I could also feel a spot on my shoulder I bruised from so much shouldering. I hefted my luggage up on my shoulder and I had to laugh. Who has bruised shoulders??? Cross racers who do about 20 laps in a weekend so 20 shouldering sections in 2 days.
More on the race later . . . . suffice it to say it was a hard weekend of racing. 65 minutes on Saturday and 55 minutes on Sunday. That felt really hard after doing 45 minutes at all the other races this season. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right??? Next up Stoughton Viking Cross!
