Time Flys by - the Weekend

Thought I'd start with the interesting cooking of the weekend and the most interesting was the potato/beet roesti that I made for dinner tonight. I have to say that it was the perfect combo. Beets are widely available right now so give it a try.

What else did I do last week and into the weekend? Last week was all about work travel. I was in Stevens Point and La Crosse so it was just as well that I couldn't train as I didn't have time. Thanks to working about a zillion hours bI did get out of work early on Friday. I was supposed to meet a roofing contractor but he stood me up so I went out for a ride.

The doctor said I could try and do some harder efforts but my calf wasn't feeling too great after all the time in the car last week so I just did a couple of little climbs on Friday. I did ride out to Basco on the Badger State Trail. Saturday I rode again and tried another hard interval. The calf seemed to take it okay but I thought I was going to puke. I think the depressing thing is how high my heartrate is even when I'm riding easy (let along trying to go hard). It's a bummer to lose so much fitness but I'm sure it will turn around eventually. Today I went out for a mountain bike ride. That probably wasn't what the doctor meant when he gave me directions on what I could do for riding. I took it fairly easy though and mentally I needed to get out on a mountain bike ride. It was way, way too hot for me though. It better cool down before the big Badger Cross weekend so it feels like cross.

That about sums up the weekend -- not too exciting but moderately productive.
