21 Days . . .
My friends tell me that it takes 21 days before a new habit becomes easy. I'm at 15 days and I think it is getting better. What's my new habit? Getting up early. I've never been a morning person but I'm really trying to become one. The first few days were easy because I'd just come back from Great Britain and the body was off schedule anyway. Last week was hard and painful but this week is a little better so far (although I didn't get up early on Monday). Yesterday I got up and went for a short jog and this morning it was Power Yoga time. I've been dragging Dave out of bed with me although he usually gets up earlier than me anyway so it's not as hard for him. Hopefully in 6 days it will be easy and natural.
This weekend I'm planning on heading to Chicago for the Jackson Park race. I've hardly practiced cross so we'll see how badly that feels. Last night I did ride out to Badger Prairie to assess the trails. I bumped into JPE and we started brainstorming ideas for a new course as I don't like the old one that much. We have some great ideas for what could be a really cool course but we have to sketch it out and get approval as it calls for using some areas that we haven't before. If we can get the okay it will be much more spectator friendly and won't have as many long slow gradual uphills and won't be spread out over the whole park. Sponsors are starting to come on board for the race - Schwinn, Willy Bikes, Boca, Organic Valley, Schwalbe, SRAM, A Stone's Throw, and more to come. Looks like demo bikes from Schwinn and Independent Fabrications.
Other things are progressing along as well . . . . Madison Bike Park Committee met, Jr CX Clinic is this coming Monday, plans are in the works for a small grant for UW Madison racers to go to Nationals (more on that to come), MadCross got a little update and so much more.
Some shouts outs . . . to Kurt on a good finish at the Brecktobercross race. Way to go Kurt! To Chris on his first Fat Tire . . . and 74th is great there were like 1400+ guys after all. I enjoyed the post-race report. Stay out of trouble in Vegas!
