Hell Week

The general look of chaos of our upstairs apartment during this week of total home remodeling. At one point we had 7 contractors plus Dave and I working in this 850 sq ft apartment.

Here's our new laundry room which to install we had to rip out the floor because the pipes did not run straight down. They made a weird twist though the old ceiling which is between the upstairs floor and our current downstairs ceiling.

I spent my week prepping walls, priming the walls and painting the walls. One day I did that for about 17 hours with only a short break for lunch and dinner, one quick trip to the paint store for additional supplies and various contractor questions (mostly involving change orders that make all the jobs more expensive).

Here's our attic with its new insulation . . . the installers said our attic had less insulation than they would put in an unheated garage today. I guess our heating bills will be less painful next winter!

Mike and Kenny working on taking out the kitchen cabinets to install a dishwasher. Another project that sounds simple at the start but like everything else ran into issues when we realized our cabinets were not a standard depth.

The upstairs bedroom - all painted and with the floors partially sanded down.

The fun isn't over yet but we have until the 16th to finish the remaining projects. It should all get done but it will be down to the wire for sure. Unfortunately I think the upstairs is going to look better than our apartment when this is all done. I've already realized that although our apartment really could use to be painted that I am going to be too sick of painting to do it. Maybe next year!

I take it you aren't looking for help with painting? :-)

I am at the beginning of a similar project - one that I hoped would get started in January and be done by racing season. Hah, wishful thinking, it hasn't worked that way at all.

I hope everything gets done in time for your new tenant!
