It almost feels like cross season
Once upon a time (last year actually) I told someone that I don't update MadCross after the CX World Champs until just before the start of the next season. I guess it's either almost cross season or the site has taken on a new off season life of its own. It's cool though as I got the Planet Bike press release on the 2008 team first and I'm psyched for all that is happening so I don't mind the new year round approach. Jonathon Page coming to town, Planet Bike riders on Ridleys and Marko riding with gears . . . sure is plenty of cross to talk about given that it isn't even April yet. This is going to be some kind of year!
What else has been going on besides cross stuff? Plenty actually but most of it is home related so not vastly exciting. First off I'm now addicted to Craigslist. It is thanks to Craigslist that I rented our upstairs apartment for the summer. Now I'm looking for some items for the upstairs apartment since I rented it as fully furnished. I think between my extra stuff, stuff that friends are giving me and hopefully some luck on Craigslist it will work out perfectly. I keep getting scooped on cheap or free tvs though. Anyone in the Madison area got an older tv they want to get rid of for $20 or less? I also need to locate a good deal on a full or queen size matress and box spring. The rest I can work around.
Now that I have a renter lined up for mid-April I have to actually get all my contractors scheduled and on track so everything is done before they move in. Once our current tenants move out it is going to be a whirlwind of action! Some of the work is mine. I never thought I'd be using my precious vacation time to do home projects but without the rental income I wouldn't really be able to afford the vacations. It's all good but I'll be glad when it's done. It also looks like I have renters lined up for the Fall which is awesome.
Oh yeah and the best part of our remodeling is that our roofers started this week! It's going pretty well although they couldn't work today due to our big snow storm. However, they have one side of the house all done and our garage is also done. That leaves the other side of the house, the small extra sections of roof and then all the gutters. I also have to put a plug in for Waunakee Remodeling should you need a roofer and you live in the Madison area. They've been great to work with from the estimate up to now. The crew working on the house are all really nice and they keep me up-to-date on what's happening. They answer my questions and they leave the area really clean each night. I think they find me amusing though as the other day they all had to come check out my bike because they were entertained by the streamers.
You know what else . . . I might just get out skiing this weekend and that makes me smile. I did, however, ride my commuter bike on an extended commute that was almost an hour. I haven't committed to the bike season yet though. My ski boots are still by the back door, not my bike shoes.

I know our extra room has boxes of storage stuff in it -- let me know if you need some as furnishing decor for the apartment! ;-)
