Why didn't I get a flu shot?
Oh yeah, I remember why I didn't get a flu shot. I was out of the office traveling on business the day that they were doing flu shots in my building and I was too lazy/busy to go somewhere else and get one. That has turned out to be a major mistake on my part as the flu hit me on Monday and has kept me on the couch ever since. I'm going stir crazy but I think there might be some hope for recovery. I feel a little bit better today and actually put on real clothes instead of lounging around sick clothes. I just hope I recover my strength by next Saturday so I can summon up enough strength for ski racing. I was feeling good after last weeks 27 mile ski but I'm feeling a long ways from that person right now.
Next year I'm not missing out on the flu shot. I'm not a big believer in them but it seems worth it if there is any chance I could avoid feeling like I have for the last week. Luckily Dave got his and he seems to have not been infected by my germs. That's the only good news.
Well, the other good news is that we're supposed to get another "blizzard" . . . it was raining but that has switched over to snow so it could be true. I'm looking forward to kicking this illness and hopefully skiing for at least another month or more.
And in news of how it's really a small world . . . VegTriathlete found my site via Vegan Mark's blog. Veg Triathlete lives here in the Midwest and I met her at a Safe Routes to School conference this fall. Mark lives on the east coast and I met him at a Cycle-Smart clinic a few year's back. Mark has a link to both of our blogs on his blog although when we met we didn't know that. See it truly is a small world!

I think we are on the same sick schedule. I got the flu last Monday too. And I think we were sick at the same time after Thanksgiving/before Cross Nats? It was never the right time for me to get a flu shot - there was always a race or a trip coming up, and then I was sick for 3+ weeks. So I never got one either.

That's ok, there was recently stories about how the flu shots they were giving out only addressed about 40% of the flu bugs that are out there. That's why we are having so many cases of it still happening...so you may have gotten it anyway!!
