What's Up?
I know, I know - I haven't been much of a blogger lately. At this point I probably only have one person left who even checks in! All I can say is that life has been busy. Tons of great stuff happening with work which keeps me super busy on top of work travel to exotic locales like Fort McCoy, Eau Claire and Wisconsin Rapids and to top it off my assistant is leaving me in a couple of weeks.
Lots happening outside of work as well. The big Women's Dirt Retreat with Alison Dunlap is happening this weekend. Everything is falling into place for that with a whole slew of fun gals coming to help with the instruction and coming to be participants. It's going to be a great weekend. Now I just need to get all our raffle prizes picked up and finalize all the food.
I've had a couple of meetings with the Madison City Parks Dept to discuss Olin Park as a potential cyclocross race venue. Not sure that is going to happen but we're pursuing it.
I've biked a very little bit. Dave and I went to Cable for Memorial Day Weekend and we rode all the trails at Rock Lake, the Ojibwa trail and the new trail from Hatchery Creek. Now I can hopefully call myself a mountain biker again. I have also been doing some trail running as I'm toying with the idea of doing the 25k trail run at the Keweenaw Trail Running Festival. I'm not sure I can be ready by mid-July though. We'll see and even if I don't do the race I'm enjoying the running. I've also done a little roller skiing and some ski hill walking. Dorky but yet fun.
I've also been trying to make some progress on landscaping our yard. I have now successfully dug out 3 of 4 stumps left from removing shrubs last summer. The last stump is the worst but I am still too cheap to pay someone to remove it for me. If I pay someone I won't have any money left for new plantings. I did plant some herbs last weekend in containers to try and show the neighbors that my plan isn't to have a big dirt filled yard forever. Our curb appeal is very low right now!
I have some great photos to illustrate all these things but I've been too busy to download my camera. Someday maybe . . . .
