It's snowing!
The day after Thanksgiving should be a holiday so poor saps like me don't have to go to work. It's not like I did anything that was so important that the University would have fallen to pieces without me. It's my own fault I was at work though as I told all my staff they could have the day off and it's generally accepted practice at my office that someone from each unit has to be there. Usually I don't have any vacation time left by this point in the year so it has always been me so I stuck with tradition.
So mid-day the snow started to fall . . . by the time the work day was over there was a nice bit of snow on the ground. It did make the bike ride home a bit more interesting. I was riding my Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer which I don't like to ride when the roads have salt on them. Guess I should have checked the weather this morning. I did my best to avoid the salt by riding on the sidewalk where the roads were super salted. (I know, I know sidewalks are a place you are likely to get hit but steel frames need to be cherished).
The roads were a bit slippery where cars had driven but where they hadn't the snow was just the right consistency to be fun to negotiate.
Anyway, if the weather keeps going like this it should be a really fabulous winter. I'm already dreaming of my first ski trip and getting back on my skis. I think skate skiing should really help build my leg back up.
Holy crap . . . the Birkie is only like 2.5 months away. I guess that's why I'm signed up for the Kortie. That should give me enough time to get ready for 25K of skiing.
