Yes, I still am a blogger
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I don't have any really good excuse other than a general lack of time. I've been keeping busy with bike club business. It's that time of year when it is winter but all the bike related stuff needs to happen.
Lots going on with the Mad FORCs this year. I did a minor revision to the website to get rid of the blue/yellow theme. We hadn't had blue and yellow jerseys in a zillion years so I finally did something to get with the times. I also am trying to get a race team blog going for the FORCs so our multitude of fans can keep up with our happenings this summer. It also looks like the FORCs will have some cool new sponsors this year to go with our already fabulous sponsors. I hope to be able to make an announcement on that any day. We're also revamping our club rides this year to try and do some rides that appeal to people who are more experienced and looking for more of a training ride. We've also got some great new ideas for partnering with Willy Bikes. You should see lots of lavendar jerseys out on the trails and at races this year. I think it is going to be a great season for the club and the race team! If you're not a part of the FORCs you're going to wish you were.
Of course the Capitol Velo Club has a lot going on as well. I'm not sure why I'm the president of two bike clubs but I am. CVC spearheaded an effort to get promoters to offer a Cat 4 women's races at all the WCA races and then also to get series points kept for Cat 3 Women and 40+ Cat 4 Women. Now we have to do our part to make sure women turn out for the races so promoters want to keep doing that in the future. A big thanks goes out to the Brazen Dropouts and the Beans and Barley teams for sponsoring the Cat 4 series. With the time change coming early this year CVC is gearing up early so we can start our rides in March. It really makes the winter feel short when road rides are starting in March. It should be a strong season for CVC as well as we already have loads of clinics planned and lots of big plans.
Of course, it is still ski season for me. Well, sort of. It's been 40+ degrees out the past few days and the snow is melting fast. I haven't skied as much as I would have liked this winter as I've been sick too many times and way busier than a person should be. I find that anything over an hour of skiing is pretty hard. I'm supposed to be skiing the Kortie this weekend but not sure if that is going to happen. My brother had serious complications from surgery and wasn't expected to live through the night. Things are looking better now as he has shown some signs of improvement after a 3rd post-surgery surgery. However, my plans remain in limbo.
I bet with this warm weather everyone is out biking but me. I would request that you all refrain from training too much as I am not that excited about getting my butt kicked this spring. Those early season crits are going to be painful -- physically and mentally. I am already prepping myself for getting dropped. I need to do some though to support the new women's categories. It hurts just thinking about it. Might as well break out the bike though as I heard it hit 50+ in Hayward and it's raining. The weather is very cruel! Forecast is for a big snow storm in Hayward . . . the day after the Birkie.
