Silver Slippers
I got some new silver slippers last night. I had some money saved up and originally I was planning to buy some bike related item but I needed new ski boots and these beauties just had to be mine. The truth is that I have plenty of bike stuff and I decided the money would be better used to invest in new skate boots. After skiing a little over 30k in them today I have to say that I made the right choice.
Decided to skip racing this weekend just to get in some good long skis. It's been a great weekend for skiing and my V2 is coming along really well. I can't believe that it took me this long to be able to V2. I realize that there is no way to really ski fast without the V2. I'm not that great yet but every once in a while I really nail the technique and you really feel like your floating over the snow.
Tomorrow I'm taking a lesson to improve my classic skiing as it needs work. It's supposed to be single digit temps tomorrow so classic skiing will be the way to go.

V2 is just a "gear" to use, and it isn't always the fastest technique. I see a lot of people that I think use V2 too much, and I think they're wasting alot of energy. The important thing is that whenever you pole, you should also be getting a good strong push. The legs should always be doing the bulk of the work. The only times I find myself using V2 is on flat ground, slight downhills, and when sprinting. Otherwise, I find it more efficient to use alternating V1 (a.k.a. "field skate") or just a V1 with a strong push.
