Skiing, Running and other stuff

And now what you've all been dieing to see . . . a little roller skiing fun for your viewing pleasure. Here's me, Dave and some of our ski school pals doing some drills. As you can see I have some issues to address in my V1 . . . I'm putting the back of my ski down first which is bad, bad, bad and I don't have enough ankle flex. So much to work on between now and the Birkie (I registered yesterday as the price increases after June 30).

*I'm the first skier and Dave is the 6th skier

This last weekend I had another big run on the schedule and I did my run at Blue Mounds State Park. If you're a skier or a biker in the Madison area then you know Blue Mounds. Famous for its immaculately groomed classic ski trails in the winter, its tough road climbs and its challenging mountain bike trails Blue Mounds is an amazing place.

Anyway, good run this week. I did over 10 miles but I'm not sure how much more than that. It was a funny run full of navigational challenges as I made wrong turns and second guessed correct turns. I had a great time though running trails like Over Lode and the other great mountain bike singletrack. I had trouble up by the picnic area finding the trail I needed to get back to the swimming pool area and I invariably had troubles getting in and out of the campground successfully. It's a wonder that I ever have done well at the Rough Stuff Rendezvous at the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival as I really have no sense of direction.

Anyway, I'm feeling good about the Keewenaw Trail Running Festival 25K although I think I may be the last person to finish! However, since I only run 2 or 3 days a week and I've had to increase my mileage from almost nothing to being able to do 25k in 8 weeks I'm really happy with how things are going. I actually felt a bit giddy with the enjoyment of it all after my run at Blue Mounds.

And in other news, Dave once again had a kick butt mountain bike race this last Sunday. Once again he came home from the WORS race with a medal and was 15th overall in Comp. NICE.
