It's not about the bike . . .

Went for a road ride last night. My legs sucked. Why have they deserted me? Riding hard was nearly impossible but I tried. A month ago my legs were much better than this. Oh well. I didn't let it get me down though. It was too beautiful a night to care about my fitness or lack thereof. I was headed home about 6:45pm and the light on the prairie in the Arboretum was truly magical. It looked like a painting but alive with sound. There were also a couple of trees that were glowing in all red leaves. By the time I got to the east end of the Arb the sun was setting over Lake Wingra in a muted orange blush. Times like that you realize that fast or slow doesn't really matter.

Got home and Dave made me dinner and I continued prepping for the big Volunteer and Sponsor Appreciation Party that is happening at "MadCross headquarters" Friday night. It's going to be huge! The house is reasonably clean (by which I mean I have put away most of the race stuff). I started working on the food . . . roasted the sweet potatoes for the Sweet Potato and Corn Chowder. I made some cookies from some bananas that were getting brown (I still haven't found the perfect banana oatmeal cookie recipe but this one was okay and could be great with some modifications if I can get it perfected I'll post the recipe).

I want to go mountain biking this weekend. And race cross. And go to the Farmer's Market. And plant some bulbs in the yard. And buy a pumpkin. And maybe some flowers. And breathe.
