Cross season coming . . . and I'll be racing

There may be hope for my recovery. My latest strength testing shows that the difference between my two legs isn't so much anymore. Two months ago when I was tested my "bad" leg had only 50% of the strength of my "good" leg in extension. Now the difference is only 9%. I should now get the go ahead to go mountain biking! And certainly the okay for cross should follow soon thereafter. I have PT class twice a week and I hop around a lot - jump, leap, bound, hop. However, I think I'll never get out of the class as we also do all sorts of things that involve catching and throwing a ball and I am sooo bad at that. I've spent my entire life avoiding sports that require those skills and I resent having to learn them now. Indeed I was always picked last for teams in elementary and high school and I'm fine with that but now it seems that catching and throwing has become crucial to my recovery.

Anyway, as you can see from the press release on cyclocrossworld.com I'm going to be racing on the Alan Team this year (I would say again but I never did a race last year so that would be a lie). If you want to be on a fun team and ride a great bike then I think this team would be for you. You an also be assured of being featured in tons of photos and video clips on this website. As you may have noticed last year I am biased towards my teammates.

So I haven't been racing this summer but life has been good to me and I've been seeing the sites. I've been to South Dakota and Wyoming, Martha's Vineyard and most recently Washington and Oregon. I've been using my vacation time very well. I've included a photo of me returning from a steep ass trail run in Mount Rainier National Park. Okay, so maybe going trail running was pushing my luck a little but the doctor never said I couldn't go trail running. Of course, he never said that I could but he did say I could jog so it's basically the same thing but just more scenic. I was very careful and fortunately didn't trip or hurt myself in anyway. Also, I must remember that if the trail description says something about climbing 500 feet in the last mile that the run will be tough. Somehow that sounded fun . . .
