Chicago???
I've been waffling all day about the trip to Chicago for the last cyclocross race in the Chicago Cross Cup. I really hate driving if the roads are bad . . . ever since I had a death defying experience on I-80 just west of Cheyenne Wyoming I haven't been the same. I now hate winter driving and I have only flown to Jackson since then.
Dave already knows that he will have to drive if the roads are at all slippery or snowy. I try to save all of my bad weather driving for ski trips where it is inevitable. Bad weather driving for bike racing is just wrong. I love cross but . . .
However I am planning at this point to go even though it is cruel since Dave is somewhat sick and I myself might have a slight bug as well. I went out and got toe warmers today though so I wouldn't have to endure frostbitten toes. I also got cleats on my winter bike shoes and I'm hoping that they are going to be good to go. I am usually opposed to doing cross in new cleats but I was able to get the somewhat used cleats off my old winter shoes so I think they are going to work. Now I just have to decide what gloves to wear.
If I had any common sense at all I would just go skiing and start my preperation for skiing the Kortie in February. I mean I love it when it snows because I love skiing but lacking all common sense I haven't even waxed my skis yet and instead cleaned my bike. The insanity of it all . . .
