What to say?
I've had no blogging motivation this week. I kept trying to think of something to say about the WORS race in Eau Claire. Everything I thought of was either too whiney, too pathetic or just plain annoying so I've opted all week to just let the blog languish.
I guess I can sum up the WORS race by saying that I didn't want to go but I did. I enjoyed hanging out with Deb and Amelia from the FORCs and Sonia from Alterra, seeing some faces on the start line I hadn't seen in awhile (Monique, Meghan and Paula) and seeing some friendly faces from cx. I enjoyed cheering for Dave and hanging out with Dave's dad who came to see his first mtn bike race. I loved the trails! I think I have a lot of hang ups about bike racing (and probably life in general). I'll probably do another one again some day but not for awhile. I think cross just suits me better at this point in time.
On July 4th I did a nice longish ride to New Glarus in the blistering, hateful heat. On the way home I told Dave that I was giving up all racing which I then amended to mean everything that wasn't cyclocross. After I got home and was no longer scorchingly hot I told him that maybe I would still do some races like 24-9 and Chequamegon. I also told him that when I'm old and retire that I'm spending my summers in New Zealand. Why or why must it be so hot???? I do love to ride my bike but not when it's hot.
Dirt Retreat this weekend and the forecast looks like it will be crazy hot. That's a bummer! However, we have something new this year as we commissioned Spencer to build us some beginner free ride obstacles. I'm so not the kind of gal that really rides obstacles but since there are more and more around all the time I guess the time has come. I'm not sure how many of our clinic participants will ride them but hopefully we find someone who becomes our resident "north shore" gal.
