Angell Park Cross
Angell Park Cross . . . what can I say. It was fun to have such a boisterous cheering section (although the elite women could use some dollar hand ups too so keep that in mind for '08). Someone commented on how funny it was to be standing at one point on the course and hear people cheering for me on the other side. It was pretty cool for me too.
Unfortunately it didn't make me faster. I had my pretty typical race. I started okay but not great but in front of a few gals. Then slowly the gals caught up to me and passed me. I couldn't stick with them and slowly I faded back in the group. I did have fun again this week racing with Rachel from America's Dairyland. She was behind me for awhile, then caught up to me, passed me on the little steep climb. Then she bobbled going around the tree (I did on one lap myself). I passed her. She caught me at the start of the run up and we ran up together and were well matched. That totally got the crowd going. I just barely got around her on the remount. Then she came flying by me on the long straight away in the gravel before the barriers and that was that. It was super fun while it lasted though. I really need to get better at riding in a straight line as I have a lot of trouble with that. And how much did we all love the swooping down, up and around the corner on the backside of the course????
Props to JPE and the Brazen Dropouts for another good race in the series. One more in the Wisconsin series left . . . state championship. I think they should have a state championship for Cat 2 women who are 39. I think I might have a chance at that one! Jingle Cross is up next. Hopefully I won't be sick this year as I don't want to miss out on the fun two years in a row.
Oh yeah, and have you bought something at my root canal fundraiser yet??? I've sold a number of items already but there is still some nice stuff left.
