Changing Season

I suppose I should stop posting photos of me from Cross Nationals and realize that the season is over. I'm sad to see cross end though. However, the ski season is upon us. Realistically the transition is full on at my house as the skis, poles and ski boots clutter our entry way and Dave and I have already helped put on the first Madnorski race of the year. The forecasted rain and high temps is depressing but it looks like it will cool off on Sunday and maybe some new snow is on the way.

Not that bike stuff is far from the mind even with ski training to be done . . . I've got the Wisconsin Cross Banquet to ensure goes smoothly. I just volunteered to serve on the WCA Board for 2008. I guess I'll be up for election to the Secretary position at the annual meeting. I've also got a letter to write to the UCI regarding the inequity of not having CX World Championships for junior and U23 girls. Looks like the UCI will be hearing plenty on the issue of equity this year! I really need to finish up all the videos from the cross season in the next week or two so I can sell DVDs again this year so I can raise some more funds to make our potential UCI race kick butt.

Maybe Georgia Gould will come to our UCI races next year given that we'll be doing equal payouts to men and women. She seems pretty cool (well, she cheered for me on Friday which was very cool). I noticed that Alison Dunlap is the new public relations person for the Luna team so when she comes to Madison for the Dirt Retreat I'll have to talk to her about our cross race. And yes, I did find a date that worked for the Dirt Retreat that also worked for Alison. We're planning June 7/8 and I have lots to do to get sponsors, co-instructors and publicity done. That can wait until next month though.

And on a final note . . . . .

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW

The UCI needs a dose of American progressiveness. With our 'cross scene making a splash across the pond, it's about time they listen up and make bike racing more equitable for everyone and not so male-centric like it is over there!
