Live from Kansas City

Made it to Kansas City about 11pm last night . . . long drive and we did have a little precipitation for the last hour and a half or so. The roads still seemed okay but it was nerve wracking.

Today Dave did the 40+ Men's B race. By the time he raced the ice covered grass was slippery mud. He rocked as usual though finishing 13th out of 79 finishers.

I was going to pre-ride the course this afternoon but it was such a muddy mess that I didn't. Heck, I've been off the bike for almost 3 weeks now so why start worrying at this late date! Luckily I have a coach who knows how to put a positive spin on things and he said that I would be fresh and that my skiing would give me the balance needed for a technical course. Yeah, what he said! However, to hedge my bets I did ride my bike. Kristin rode out to the course from the hotel so I rode back with her and we had a few little rolling hills which hopefully shocked my legs back into bike mode.

Tomorrow afternoon I race and who knows what the course will be like as it isn't supposed to get above freezing tomorrow. There should be plenty of frozen ruts if they just leave things as they are. It should be fun no matter what!
