Got my upgrade
It's official I'm a Cat 2 Cyclocross racer . . . . Heidi was kind enough to say "congratulations on your well-deserved upgrade. I think that might be a bit of an overstatement based on my racing last year but I hope to prove it to be true this year. My UCI license should be on its way now. Yeah, $150 so I can spend a bunch of money traveling to UCI races. It's all a bit illogical but illogical can be fun. I'm leaning towards putting on a UCI race here in Madison next year to cut down on my travel expenses.
Things continue to rock along with the race planning. Today Sock Guy signed on to be a sponsor of the race and ever since then I've been compelled to use the phrase "great socks" but I'm also liking "hot socks." Very juvenile of me I know but I can't help it. Check out their blog.
Bagels Forever also signed on as a sponsor. They've always been good to me (thanks to alt-bomb rider Jim who works there). Morning racers will be enjoying 6 dozen tasty bagels as we won't be firing up the grill until close to noon.
Have I mentioned that this cross race is going to be awesome! Looks like Chris is trying to put together an Evansville race. That'd be awesome as there is a great vegetarian place there I could hit (that being a key component of the race weekend for me).
Tomorrow I'm doing my first Safe Routes to School presentation at the Governor's Conference on Highway Safety. Hopefully it goes well . . . given that my program is still in the formative stages it is interesting to already be doing a presentation. Check out my great new logo though. Oh yeah, and Miss America is speaking at lunch tomorrow. I'm really, really looking forward to that. Rumor is that she flew in with 8 bags of luggage. And she got picked up in a limo. That is crazy!

Congrats on your upgrade! It'll make things so much more fun!
It would be awesome to have a UCI race in the upper Midwest next year. We (the community) really need to make it happen!
Fortuntely for all of you, I live in Evanston, not Evansville. We are NOT going to Indiana! Evanston is much closer to Wisconsin; we'll see what happens with the city. And yes, Blind Faith is awesome.
I'm getting more and more bummed that I'm going to miss Badger Prairie! Good luck on your presentation!
Congratulations!
(and greetings from NJ)
