Change of plans, change of teams
As you all know I've changed my racing plans for the year to focus on the local race scene. Along with that decision I also made the decision to leave the Alan Factory Team.
Don't get me wrong I loved being a part of the Alan Team. I was very excited to join the team back in 2004 and had a ton of fun getting to know my teammates last year as I raced in various places around the country. It's a great team and if anyone out there is looking to join a team I would highly recommend the Alan Factory Team.
However, in my attempt to change my mindset towards racing this year I knew that it would be better for me mentally to just race for my local road team. I think my CVC teammates will appreciate it as well given that I'm the president of the team but didn't do any road racing this year with them. It just makes sense.
I probably really annoyed the team director for the Alan team since it's a bit late in the game to make this decision. I feel guilty about the timing. I actually was thinking of leaving the team earlier in the year but didn't make a decision and then the press release went out and so I felt I should stick it out. However, I need a change so I bit the bullet and told him.
I doubt I'll get invited to join in more national teams after this . . . burning bridges and all that. Anyway, look for me in the fashionable Capitol Velo Club jersey this Fall. I'll still be riding my kick butt Alan bike though. I'm not interested in making a change to that as the bike handles like a dream.

That is a sweet jersey. Admit it, you switched because Alan's kit is so garish...
