Back Home
Gocation is over and it's back to juggling work, race promotion, and trying to ride. It was great being away for a few days though and it was nice to not have all the life distractions and be able to focus on riding and event promotion.
I want to say that I love, love, love the Keweenaw Peninsula. The weather was unbeatable with temps in the 60s and 70s with nice chilly nights. According to the news we just missed the summer heat wave . . . 3 daysin a row with temps over 80.
Thursday we drove up to the UP and on the way we rode at the Underdown trails outside Irma, WI. Friday we rode the Churning Rapids trails and Maaso Hiito trails outside Houghton/Hancock, MI. Saturday we did a 5k trail run in Chassell, MI and then rode some of the Swedetown Trails in Calumet, MI. Sunday we rode the trails at Michigan Tech in Houghton and then some rollerskiing and a short run. Monday we rode all the trails at Swedetown. Today we drove home with a stop at the Standing Rock trails outside Plover. In between the riding I could be found in our cabin on my laptop taking care of race business.
All I can say is that my legs are tired but the trails we rode are worth it. I'm totally in love with the singletrack at Swedetown in Calumet. Actually I'm totally in love with the Keweenaw. I want to spend some time living there one day. Of course that day is 16 years away when I am old enough to retire.
