Beautiful cold crisp night
Last night I had to go to a meeting for the board of the Weston Wood Award and since Dave had the car I needed to use my normal transportation mode - a bike. I figured since the meeting was on the far west side of town I would combine transportation and training into one which is a very common theme in my life.
It was a fabulous night for a ride really with temps probably in the upper 20s by the time I got home at 10pm. It was cold and crisp which is much nicer than some nights when the cold is bone chilling and damp. And I had just enough time before I left to charge up my battery for my serious bike light. I stopped and bought dinner to eat at the meeting (yes, I love multi-tasking) and all the people at the restaurant were looking at me like I was crazy. (I think it probably is a rare site on the far west side of town to see a woman in her full team kit with leg warmers, lobster mit gloves, ear band, flashing rear lights, and a headlight as bright as a car).
In other news, have you seen Brandon Dwight's blog this week? If not, give it a read and find out about Ben Turner's work in bringing environmental issues to the forefront through his work with the TIAA-CREF/Clif Bar team. If you want to learn more check out the Velo New video interview with Ben. It's very awesome! I had a great chat with Ben about this when he was in town and I've got some great ideas for the Badger Cross race next year.
Speaking of awesome . . . . just add a shot of tequila!
