The joy of the group ride
Last night I was leading the Mad FORCs road ride. I know, I know . . . mountain bikers on a road ride. We do okay though as enough of us are also roadies that it isn't too chaotic. It is a different experience from a CVC road ride though.
Anyway, somehow the people more my speed only wanted to do a short ride and I ended up with the serious racer gals for most of the night. Suffice it to say that my legs were ripped off, snot was streaming down my face and I spent a lot of time desperately clinging to the wheel in front of me. If you want all the gory details you can go to the Mad FORCs blog. Luckily Ben isn't coaching me right now so I don't have to explain why I would do a ride like that in week one of my base mile weeks.
When I got home Dave made me pineapple peanut stew which helped make everything better. Yummy! I should put the recipe online as I think Mark would enjoy that one as it is a quick and easy vegan delight. I had leftovers for lunch today so it was doubly fine.
Now the big question is whether I will show up at the crit on Sunday. I probably should but I find myself unmotivated to race. I do want to support my teammates though. If I go I just hope that when I get dropped that I get dropped with someone who wants to ride a nice smooth tempo. The surges in speed last night were the hardest part as my legs just aren't ready for that yet.
It was snowing/sleeting nice and hard on the ride to work this morning. By the looks of things out of my window it should be an interesting ride home or at least a wet ride home. Hopefully the roads are warm enough that it isn't slippery.

Come to the party, bring your suit just in case the water looks inviting. C'mon! Fun!
Don't stress about racing. We can use some good vocal support from the sidelines, if you're so inclined, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would tell you not to worry about riding if you're still feeling a bit burned out. However, if you do decide to race I'll be happy to ride a nice even tempo with you when I get dropped on Sunday. :-)
