Relaxing trail run

I admit it . . . I was sick of being blown around in the wind on my bike. Today's commute to work and back was enough. You know it's bad when the wind is blowing you around biking in town. Dave and I got out for a nice trail run instead. I have to admit that I'm pretty spoiled living so close to the Arboretum and with the return to winter like temperatures and a nice wind chill we had the trails all to ourselves.

It struck me as I was running that one of the things I really like about running is that I'm not at all involved with the sport. Going for a run is simply going for a run. Yes, I have trained for a few runs in my lifetime (4 or 5 maybe) but I'm not looking to become a good runner. I don't worry about PRs, I don't try to get anyone else to take up running. It's just going for a run.

And trail running . . . . did I mention how nice it was to be out in the Arboretum on the trails. Trail running is like a whole different sport . . . kind of like road biking and mountain biking. However, since I'm the president of both a road bike club and a mountain bike club I better not get into any sort of essay comparing and contrasting the two or I might be impeached by one club.

And did I mention that I can't wait until my work trip and then vacation in Colorado in May. I think many of you know which bike will be going with me . . . .
