Where is our snow going????

Yesterday I was fortunate to have one more day off from work and so I headed out to Odana to ski the rapidly melting trail. It was what some would describe as "fast" conditions. I can't deny that I was making faster than normal progress but I would describe it as icy conditions which tend to freak me out a little.

However, I have to admit that I actually had some points in the day where I felt like I was actually skiing. I put it down to having read the V-1 tips in Cross Country Skier magazine before I headed out. It's always good to have some reminders about the importance of making sure all of your effort is directed forward when skiing. I have to say that part of the reason that I felt fast though is that for the first 45 minutes or so there were only about 4 people out skiing and I was actually lapping the other people. Of course they were classic skiing and the tracks were in very poor conditions. I also had my MP3 player on and you ski much faster when you're listening to Rammstein and the Rollins Band.

In other news don't forget to purchase a cross calendar or poster and support the US Cross team going to World's and in particular Midwesterner Bjorn Selander. Follow his progress at Euro Cross Camp at www.alan-usa.com. And a special offer to those of you reading my blog . . . for $35 I will make you a custom calendar with any MadCross pictures (you, your team, your favorite riders, whatever) with the profits to the cross team.

Don't have the WCA DVD done just yet but soon. Training for the 24 Hours of Telemark is getting in the way!
